Nine TRS MLAs suspended for asking to withdraw cases against students

Nine MLAs of Telangana Rashtra Samiti were suspended from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for the morning session today, as they continued to disrupt the proceedings demanding unconditional withdrawal of cases filed against students during statehood agitations in the last one year.

The TRS members were evicted from the House by marshals on the direction of Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar, who was in the Chair.

The TRS legislators stormed the Speaker''s podium holding placards and raising slogans, demanding withdrawal of cases against students within a specified time frame.

Immediately, after the House re-assembled following the first 15-minute adjournment, the TRS members continued to remain on their feet, raising slogans.

They surrounded the Speaker''s podium and did not let the House transact business even as the Deputy Speaker postponed the listed questions.

With the TRS members persisting with their stand, Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy moved the motion for suspension of the former.

Marshals were called in to evict the suspended members as they refused to move out.

Earlier, all opposition parties registered their protest as the government rejected the demand for blanket withdrawal of cases against students.

"Its not just the students, but political workers and several other elements were involved in incidents like bus burnings as part of the agitation. We are examining each case thoroughly before taking a decision on the withdrawal," Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy reiterated.

Telangana Wins : Govt. bows to students demands

Home minister, Sabitha Indira Reddy has today announced that the government has decided to postpone the SI exams.

“Keeping in view of the ongoing protests, as a responsible government, we have decided to postpone the exams” she said.

OU Students have expressed their happiness over the news and thanked all telanganites for lending their support.

Earlier in the day, Kakatiya University turned into a war zone and nearly 12 buses were damaged during the protests at “A” Gate.

Talking to media, OUJAC leader said “When the protests reached their heights, last year the central government declared formation of Telangana state. Now, they have bowed to student demands and postponed the exams. This is like a semi final before the SKC report on December 31st. Finals are ahead and we are ready for it. we will not let the suicides of 654 students to go in vain. This agitation and spirit will continue until formation of Telangana ”

Atleast 15 pro-Telangana students were arrested today after they tried to storm the residence of Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy here over the controversial ‘Free Zone’ issue, Banjara Hills police said.

Raising slogans, a group of Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee (OUSJAC) made a bid to lay seige to the Home Minister’s residence at Srinagar Colony, but police foiled their attempt and 15 protesters were taken into custody, a senior police officer told PTI.

Although the government had yesterday put off the recruitment test for the posts of Sub-Inspectors in Hyderabad city, that was scheduled for next month, the OUSJAC has given a educational institutions bandh call for today.

The Telangana leaders of different political parties and OUSJAC had been demanding that the written exams be postponed till the Presidential Order treating Hyderabad as ‘Free Zone’ is amended as per resolution passed by the State Assembly.

They wanted the government to start recruitment for SI posts only after deletion of 14 (F) clause in the Presidential Order to prevent injustice to Telangana candidates.

Meanwhile, the indefinite fast undertaken by seven students of OUSJAC at the OU Camps here entered fifth day.

“There is no response from the government over our demands even as our fast-unto-death has entered fifth day,” a student, who is on hunger strike said.

Following the bandh call, managements of several private institutions decided to voluntarily close their educational institutions.

LEGEND      In Tretayugam, there lived a sage by the name of Yadarishi, son of the great sage Rishyasrunga and Santa Devi who did penance inside a cave with the blessings of Anjaneya on this hill between Bhongir(Bhuvanagiri) and Raigiri (Now in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh,India). Pleased with his deep devotion, Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu appeared before him in five different forms as Jwala, Yogananda, Gandabherunda, Ugra and Lakshminarasimha.       They later manifested themselves into finely sculpted forms that later came to be worshipped as Pancha Narasimha Kshetram. As the legend goes, the Lord appeared first as Jwala Narasimha (Lord as a flame), when Yadarishi was unable to face the intensity of this apparition, he appeared in a peaceful form as Yoganarasimha (Lord in a Yogic Padmasana posture with open palms on the knees). Not satisfied with the Lord appearing alone, Yadarishi sought to see him with this consort, so Lord is said to have appeared with Lakshmi on his lap, known as Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. To see these three forms one has to go through an entrance that narrows itself into a dark cave. Interestingly, the cave is formed under a huge rock, which forms a sloping roof into a height of just 5-ft in the middle for the passage inside. While going through this constricted passage one has to necessarily lower the  head slightly. Thus the very natural formation of the cave itself makes one bow involuntarily to the Lord.   At the end of the cave, there are the actual images of the Lord. One can see two rocks fastened to each other and forming a vertical cup of about one -foot between them. On the other side of the rock, we can see the image in the shape of a serpent  head and ending like its tail. This is said to be the aspect of God known as Jwala Narasimha, first manifestation of Lord. Popular tradition has it that a divine serpent still moves about the image. On the opposite rock, there is another  image of Lord seated in meditation  (Padmasana posture) which is the image of Yogananda Narasimha, the second manifestation of Lord, along with the The third manifestaion as Lakshmi Narasimha on the same rock. The fourth form, Ugra Narasimha (Fiery form of Narasimha), reveals His Fierce Mouth to us as the wide entrance to the cavern itself because it was beyond the strength of a sage to see that form and Gandabherunda ( the garuda pakshi or the eagle) is the fifth form of the Lord which is said to have been found sculpted in rock underneath the Anjaneya,  known as 'Kshetrapalaka' (or the one who ruled over that hill). This form is known only by the presence of an eternal lamp that burns within a crevice underneath Sri Anjaneya sannidhi.  All these forms are known as "swayambhu" or self emanated. As these rupams of the Lord are sometimes difficult to see in the small crevice inside the cavern that serves as His sannidhi,  Lord Narasimha and Lakshmi stand together as large silver utsava murthis as Sri LakshmiNarasimha.  It is this form of the Lord and Lakshmi that are known and adored by all the devotees visiting the Temple. Yadarishi is said to have been granted his wish that the place where the Lord appeared will be known by his name as Yadagiri (giri means hill in Sanskrit, and gutta which means a hillock in Telugu seems to have been a latter-day suffix) and that Lord Lakshmi Narasimha will be worshipped for many years to come.            There are Puranic and traditional accounts of this Shrine, which are widely popular among the devotees. There is mention about the origin of this temple in the Skanda Purana, one of the famous 18 puranas.         Glowing bright atop the sikharam of garbha griha(Sanctum sanctorum) of this cave temple is the golden Sudarshana chakra (about 3 ft x 3ft) of Lord Vishnu (whose reincarnation is Lord Narasimha) the adornment as  well as the weapon is a symbol this temple is identified by from as far away as 6 km. It is said that many years ago the chakra moved in the direction from which the devotees came as if like a compass guiding them towards itself.           Lord Narasimha is believed to have been worshipped by sages ( rushis). The region of Yadagirigutta  is reputed to be a "Rushi Aradhana Kshetram" or the place of worship for sages .           As the belief goes, Lord Narasimha has taken on the role of a "doctor" and is known as "Vaidya Narasimha" by his devotees at this shrine to cure many chronic diseases and the  role of a 'do gooder' to those who are under the influence of bad planets, witch craft and black magic. Many instances are cited of the Lord appearing in the dreams of the devotees, and administering medicines and operated the patients and blessed  them with good health. Many devotees tell of vivid dreams in which the Lord comes to heal them from chronic or terminal illnesses, and even mental or emotional problems. A mandala (40 day) pradakshina is very popular made by many  a devotee cured of a long standing ailment or chronic disease. Often times, the Lord Himself has imparted mantrOpadEsham to select devotees in their dreams.           Another Legend also has it that  Sriman Narayana, pleased with YAda's tapas, sent Sri Anjaneya to  direct the rishi to a holy spot, where the Lord appeared to him  in the form of Sri LakshmiNarasimha. This spot is marked by a temple located at the foot of the Yadagiri  hillock, and is located about 5 km from the present temple. There the sage worshipped the  Lord for many years.         After Yadarishi attained mOksham,  a number of tribals, hearing of the  Lord's presence, came to worship Him at this temple. But, not being very learned, these  devotees began to engage in improper worship. Because of this,  Sri LakshmiNarasimha moved into to the hills. The tribals searched for many years to find their Lord, to no avail.          After many years had passed, the Lord appeared in the dream of a devout lady among the tribe, directing her to a large cavern wherein He revealed Himself to all as five majestic Avatharams. The Aradhanam and Puja in this temple are performed according  to Pancharatra Agamam. The puja vidhanam (Puja procedure) was set by Late Sri Vangeepuram Narasimhacharyulu who composed Yadagiri Suprabhatam, Prapatti, Stotram, Mangalashasanam and served as Sthanacharya of this temple

No mayhem after Dec 31: KCR

Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K Chandrasekhara Rao today dismissed as anti-Telangana the campaign that there would be a law and order breakdown in the state after December 31 when the Srikrishna Committee is scheduled to submit its report on the demand for state’s bifurcation.

“We will not be carrying swords and parade on the streets after December 31. Our agitation will be non-cooperation in a democratic way,” Rao said, speaking at two meetings organised in connection with some workers of the Telugu Desam joining the TRS.

He said that those who were opposing formation of Telangana were resorting to the campaign that there would be destruction and devastation and even as it would be like Yuganth. But our agitation would be peaceful intended to force the Centre to grant statehood to  Telangana, he said.

He said his party would give time of about 15 days to the Centre to study the recommendations of the Justice BN Srikrishna Committee and then pressure would be exerted on the Centre to introduce a bill in Parliament in February. “We know we will not get Telangana unless we fight for it. That is what we are going to do,” he said.

He said that though people had been agitating for Telangana, discrimination was still continuing. “Take for instance, the recent recruitment to DSC-2008. It is being done in one fashion in Andhra and and in a different fashion in Telangana,” he said and expressed his unhappiness over the state government not taking the initiative to amend the Presidential Order to make Hyderabad a part of Zone VI.

While Andhra celebrates, Telangana activists mark ‘black day’

 Andhra Pradesh formation day celebrations began Monday morning amid protests in Telangana, where groups fighting for a separate state are observing the anniversary as a “black day”.

Tension prevailed in parts of Telangana as protestors tried to disrupt the official celebrations while dozens of leaders of various parties and their activists were arrested.

Osmania University students tried to stop Chief Minister K. Rosaiah’s convoy at Ameerpet here when he was heading towards NTR Stadium to attend the main official celebrations. Police arrested members of Osmania University Joint Action Committee (JAC), who were demanding that he not celebrate the day in view of the demand for Telangana state.

Rosaiah later hoisted the national flag and reviewed a colourful parade, which was held amid tight security arrangements. Police also took into custody students at the Indira Park near the venue when they were trying to release black balloons.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) activists also staged protests at the residence of the minister for information and public relations J. Geeta Reddy. Police arrested TRS legislator Harish Rao and other protestors.

TRS, Telangana Praja Front, all-party Telangana Joint Action Committee, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telangana leaders of the ruling Congress party and main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have called for a boycott of the celebrations.

Pro-Telangana groups have also called for observing the day as “black day” or “betrayal day”. They had urged the government not to celebrate formation day as this would hurt the sentiments of Telangana people.

Protests rocked Telangana districts as they tried to disrupt the official celebrations. Over 200 protestors were arrested in Warangal. Activists of TRS and other parties also hoisted black flags on government buildings.

Police arrested leaders of pro-Telangana groups in various districts as a precautionary measure.

Educational institutions remained closed in Hyderabad on an appeal by the Osmania University JAC.

TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu hoisted the national flag at NTR Tust Bhavan, the party headquarters and paid tributes to Telugu leader Potti Sriramulu, who died in December 1952 after a 56-day hunger strike to press the demand for a separate state for Telugus.

On Sep 1, 1953, Telugu-speaking Rayalseema and the coastal Andhra areas of Madras State were separated to form Andhra State with Kurnool as its capital.

It was on Nov 1, 1956 that Telangana, part of the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad, was merged with Andhra State to form Andhra Pradesh, with Hyderabad as its capital.

Alleging injustice to Telangana by successive rulers from Andhra, Telangana groups have been demanding separate statehood for the region for the last four decades.

Telangana comprises 10 districts, including Hyderabad.

తెలంగాణా ప్రజలు వ్యతిరేకించినా,కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వమే నియమించిన రాష్ట్రాల పునర్ వ్యవస్థీకరణ కమిషన్ (ఫజల్ అలీ కమిషన్ ) ఇప్పుడే వద్దని చెప్పినా,సీమాంధ్ర నాయకులు కుట్రలు కుహాకాలు చేసి తెలంగాణాను బలవంతంగా ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్లో విలీనం చేశారు.పెద్దమనుషుల ఒప్పందం పేరుమీద తెలంగాణా ప్రజలను వంచించారు.తెల్లారి నుండే ఒప్పందాలను ఉల్లంఘించారు.అన్నిరకాలుగా అభివృద్ధి చెందడానికి అవకాశాలు,వనరులు వున్నా ఈ 54 సంవత్సరాలలో తెలంగాణను ఆకలి చావుల,ఆత్మహత్యల,నిరుద్యోగుల,వలసజీవుల ప్రాంతంగా మార్చివేశారు.నీటి వనరులను దోచుకెళ్ళారు.పరిశ్రమలను ధ్వంసం చేశారు.సీమాంధ్ర కంటే ఆదాయం వనరులు ఎక్కువగా వున్నా తెలంగాణాను చివరికి వెనక బడ్డ ప్రాంతంగా దిగజార్చి వేశారు.ఇదంతా 1956 నవంబర్ 1 న జరిగిన ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్ ఏర్పాటు వలెనే జరిగింది.
ఈ కథంతా ఈ మోసం అంతా తెలంగాణా ప్రజలకు తెలియనిది కాదు.తెలుసుకున్నందుకే తెలంగాణా ప్రజలు మేము ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్ లో వుండమంటూ దశాబ్దాలుగా ఆందోళనలు చేస్తూ వస్తున్నారు.వందల మంది తెలంగాణా బిడ్డలు స్వంత రాష్ట్రము కొరకు తమ ప్రాణాలను త్యాగం చేశారు.ఎన్నోసార్లు పొలిమేరల వరకు వచ్చిన తెలంగాణాను చూస్తూ ఉండగానే సీమాంధ్ర మాంత్రికులు మాయం చేశారు.అంటే 1956 నవంబర్ 1 న మాత్రమె ద్రోహం జరగా లేదు.ఆ రోజు నుండి ద్రోహం కోన సాగుతూనే వున్నది. అంటే కాదు ఈ సీరియల్ ద్రోహాలలో కేవలం సీమాంధ్ర నాయకులు మాత్రమె లేరు,వారితో తెలంగాణకు చెందిన వారి తొత్తు నాయకులు కూడా వున్నారు.వీరి ద్రోహాల,వెన్నుపోట్ల కారణంగానే ప్రజలు ఎన్ని ఉద్యమాలు చేసినా తెలంగాణా రాష్ట్రాన్ని సాధించుకో లేకపోతున్నాము.
ఇక ఇప్పుడు కేవలం నవంబర్ 1 ద్రోహానికి నిరసన తెలియ చేయడం మాత్రమె సరిపోదు.డిశంబర్ ద్రోహులకు,ద్రోహాలకు వ్యతిరేకంగా కూడా పోరాడినప్పుడే తెలంగాణాను సాధించుకోగలుగుతాము.తెలుగు దేశం పార్టి,కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టి లు తెలంగాణకు అనుకూలమే అంటూ 2009 డిశంబర్ 9 వరకు కోతలు కోశాయి.కాని డిశంబర్ 9 తరువాత నుండి ఈ రెండు పార్టీలే తెలంగాణా వ్యతిరేక బూటకపు ఉద్యమాన్ని సృష్టించి డిశంబర్ ద్రోహానికి పాల్పడినాయి.తెలంగాణా రాష్ట్ర ప్రక్రియను ప్రారంభిస్తున్నట్లుగా పార్లమెంటులో ప్రకటన చేసినప్పుడు వ్యతిరేకించిన తెలుగు దేశం పార్టీయే ఇప్పుడు పార్లమెంటులో బిల్లు పెట్టాలంటూ దొంగ నాటకాలు ఆడుతున్నది.కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టి మొసలి కన్నీరు కారుస్తూ డబ్బులు పంచుతూ తిరుగుతున్నది.ఈ డిశంబర్ ద్రోహుల,ద్రోహాల ను మరిచి పొతే,ఎండగాట్టక పొతే,ఎదుర్కోక పొతే తెలంగాణా అందని ద్రాక్షే అవుతుంది.ఈ నిరసన దినాన శపథం చేద్దాం. నవంబర్ ద్రోహులను తరిమేద్దాం , డిశంబర్ ద్రోహులను పాతరేద్దాం .

SKC Verdict & The Tryst of Telangana!

Sri Krishna Committee, if you go by its terms of reference, legal validity and ‘modus operandi’, its verdict is not very hard to predict. In all probability its yearlong exercise would end up in a fractured judgement with several incongruous options.The principal constituents in the decision making are the Andhra leaders and Congress Party. If we go by their history in the enslavement of Telangana, they will be quick to grab all the farcical options and indulge in their pervert politics, to prolong the agony of Telangana people. Whether it is their innate nature to believe in the honesty of others or naiveté, Telangana people have failed several times to gauge the consequences of their acquiescence over the decisions on Telangana. Though they have a glorious history of valor and sacrifice, they have failed time and again to understand the scheming machinations of Andhra political leadership and Congress Party and had been worst for it.

The scheming andhras are united across all political parties and are doing everything to subjugate Telangana, one more time. In addition to their political numbers, they have more money power than any time before to influence the decisions. The Congress Party in the past after knowing the consequences fully well have sold Telangana to andhras, despite their being all powerful to override andhras. Now Congress Party needs more of their money and more of their political numbers. The upcoming fractured verdict of SKC will likely be another chance for Congress party and andhras to play yet another episode of their perverted politics. The behavior and attitude of the A P government and Andhra MPs and MLAs during the period after 9^th December, is a clear indication in this direction. There does not appear any appreciable change of heart in Congress High Command either.

Even today, after knowing such a monumental ‘organized exploitation’ in vivid detail, Telangana political leadership is fractured in their demand for ‘demerger’ of the state. Apparently they did not learn anything from the past lessons. Once again they are exhibiting their political naiveté and playing right in to the hands of scheming andhras and Congress Party. The opportunism and sycophancy of Telangana congress leadership, the rabid party politics of Telangana TDP leaders, and the personal animosities of Telangana rebel fronts all are creating a situation rife for another bout of political gamesmanship. These factors are trying to undermine the good work done by TRS, JACs, Students and other Peoples organizations, during the last one year. Telangana people have missed the boat several times in the past, because of political naiveté of its leaders. The behavior of our political leadership after 9^th December, 2009 once again proved this. If Telangana Congress Party and TDP leadership had stood by TRS and other Organizations, in the aftermath of 9^th December, Telangana people would have achieved their separate state by now.

Congress has come to announce the process of initiating Telangana State under tremendous pressure from Telangana people. As usual our political leadership baulked at the opportune moment, gave another chance for protracting the agony of Telangana people. Everybody knows that SKC was a delaying tactic by Congress High Command, to dilute ‘Telangana Struggle’ at the behest of Andhra congress leadership and probe the pros and cons of the party’s future prospects. On the otherside TDP played most macabre politics, during this one year making a mockery of politics in Telangana. TRS and JACs, though they are skeptical about the verdict of SKC  in keeping with the traditions of Telangana they played along with the Center, hoping that truth will prevail in the end.  Thanks are due to them for keeping the struggle and hopes of Telangana people alive.

Whatever has happened earlier, now taking cue from the past, the Telangana political leadership should know that nothing short of total united front of all the political parties and peoples organizations of the region will be a challenge enough to the seasoned political gamesmanship of andhras and Congress high command. Therefore, all the political forces in Telangana region should forget their differences and come together to fight the ‘political game’ in the aftermath of SKC verdict, so that Telangana people will not miss the boat yet again. The pluralism, political opportunities, party politics, personal animosities etc., can wait till we get a state of our own to fight for them. If we ignore this and indulge in the internecine squabbles and present a divided front, we are likely to lose the game this time around too.

The JACS and other Peoples organizations have played a special role in bringing the present struggle to such a new height. They have the potential to propel the struggle on their own, if the situation demands it. If the political leadership does not rise to the occasion, the peoples organizations should wrest the initiative with a united front and should fight for the separate state, as never done before, making the recalcitrant political parties irrelevant. The situation is rife for that eventuality and they should be prepared for that. All the Telangana people should realize that there is no scope for going back from here. If we go back, it will be a ‘Harakiri’ and we will be living in our own land as third class citizens. This is now or never, for Telangana people to meet their tryst with the destiny of separate Telangana.

Telangana Praja Front would work for statehood: Gaddar

Hyderabad, Oct 10 (PTI) Revolutionary balladeer and folk artist Gaddar today said his 'Telangana Praja Front' would work with the aim of introduction of a bill in Parliament for the formation of separate Telangana. "The aim of the Front is tabling a bill in Parliament for the formation of separate Telangana. We believe it is possible through people's movements," he told reporters. The steering committee of the Front, comprising 85 members, would meet on October 14 to take decisions on all issues, he said. Gaddar launched 'Telangana Praja Front' yesterday which he said is not a party but a political front to fight for separate Telangana. "We will grow politically and fight for separate Telangana statehood. Telangana can be achieved through people's movements and agitations only," Gaddar said in his speech during the formal launch of the front here yesterday. Meanwhile, some Congress leaders took exception to Gaddar's criticism of their party. "When the aim of all is to achieve separate Telangana, then it is better if criticism against each other is avoided," senior Congress MLA K Jana Reddy said.

Yet Another T-Front, This Time By Gaddar

There seems to be as many political parties and forums as the number of districts are in the Telangana region, claiming to be the champions of separate Telangana cause. On Saturday evening, yet another Telangana forum, in the name of Telangana People’s Front, was formed and it will be led by revolutionary balladeer Gaddar. Claiming that the front would invite all like-minded and sincere individuals, parties and forums to fight unitedly for Telangana, Gaddar made it clear that the sole agenda of the Front would be to bring pressure on the central government to table bill in Parliament for Telangana state formation. “That is the only way to achieve Telangana,” he said. He announced that the front would be formally launched at a grand public meeting at the Nizam college grounds on October 9 and it would finalise its action plan at the meeting. “The agitation would begin much before December 31 deadline fixed for B N Srikrishna Committee,” he said. At the same time, Gaddar took potshots at Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao, albeit indirectly. He said the Telangana movement had lost the track, as it was hijacked by a few individuals who were only interested in promoting their personal interests rather than public interests. This is not the first time that Gaddar made an announcement on forming a front for Telangana. He did it in the past, but it could not take off as he lacks the money and manpower to sustain it, unlike the TRS. Secondly, it is difficult to believe Gaddar as he is the front man of Maoist party and so, there would be no weight in his words that he would fight for the Telangana bill in Parliament. He has to clarify whether he believes in Parliamentary democracy or not.

One more political front- Gaddar is all set to head new Telangana Front. The telangana Praja Front has been announced by gaddar in the city on Saturday.A meeting would be held on October 9 in the city where telangana party forum will be launched formally. The promoters of the front discussed several proposals on the future course of action, including organising a massive public meeting on december 9 at nizam college grounds.

Speaking to the media Gadar said, With the sole aim of achieving separation telangana through peoples movement this front is announced he added.

‘Andhra -Telangana Divide’ too Wide to Bridge

The present episode of Telangana struggle, as part of 54 year old arduous campaign, is surviving for the last 10 years.  Today all the 4 crore Telangana people either implicitly or explicitly expressing their ardent desire for a separate state. Yet the political leadership of Andhra does not seem to understand the anguish, behind this long drawn struggle.  They are trying to brush aside it with the same autocratic behavior of the earlier episodes. Their autocracy appears to have emanated from their political majority in the Assembly; their successes in the past against the formation of Telangana; their influence on ‘Congress High Command’, the principal entity to resolve the matter.

But, their un-abashed violations of agreements, enormous plunder of Telangana resources after 1969, have pushed Telangana region to the edge of a precipice, making these earlier factors irrelevant and insignificant. Now overwhelmingly the total population of Telangana is galvanized, in to achieving a separate state. Things have come to such a pass that the two regions living together in a united state are impracticable and impossible. It is impracticable, because of the 175 and 119 numbers equation and the contemptuous treatment and outright violation of all the earlier agreements by them. Impossible because Telangana people have made up their mind very firmly not to live with andhras in one state. Any attempt to compel them to do so, as was done earlier, would be a colossal blunder and will be a travesty of democracy. I t would certainly lead to grievous consequences and is avoidable under any circumstances.

If Andhra Politicians think that they will succeed by employing political and administrative coercion because of their superior numbers, they are on the wrong track and will lose their way this time. If they wanted to keep the state united, they should have honored the agreements and implemented them to the satisfaction of Telangana people. They should have listened to the grievances and try to understand the problems   and addressed them .They never did it. On the contrary they have plundered Telangana with a disdain, making the lives of Telangana people miserable. Even today, no Andhra MP or MLA have the moral courage to agree to the blanket violation of all and sundry agreements made with Telanagana people and accept the injustices heaped on them. Or sitting with them to discuss the problems and to find solutions, if possible. Instead, they are perpetrating the same old tactics of un-democratic coercion and call Telanagana people traitors and violators of constitution. If they know ABCD of constitution of India and if they have any elementary knowledge of democratic principles in them, their conscience would have choked them to death.

The Sri Krishna Committee by its yearlong sojourn in the state would have understood all this, if we go by the reputation of its Chairman and many members of the Committee. We all hope that the committee would advise the Central Government (or Congress Party?), to accede to the legitimate demand of Telangana people, forthwith. If not, it would be a terrible failure to recognize the voice of 4 crore people against the most ignominious oppression under the garb of majority rule for half a century in democratic India.  Congress party for once should stop its political gamesmanship and honor the will of oppressed people. The time has come for Congress Party to dissect this political ulcer created by itself without any further ado.

It is an undenying fact that, the outlook of people from Seemandhra and Telanagna regions had been very disparate.Presently, there is no scope what so ever, to span the expanse between the two regions. It has become too wide to bridge.

Govt considering lifting cases against students

HYDERABAD: The government is considering the request of Telangana and Seemandhra leaders to withdraw the cases booked against the students who participated in the Telangana and Samaikhyandhra agitations. 

But, the cases booked for damaging private properties are unlikely to be withdrawn. 

The issue came up at a meeting home minister Sabita Indra Reddy had with DGP K Aravind Rao on Friday evening. 

Telangana leaders, cutting across party lines, have been demanding withdrawal of the cases against students. Union home minister P Chidambaram had even assured Lok Sabha that all the cases would be withdrawn. Recently, the state government had appointed a committee to explore the possibility of lifting the cases. Home minister and DGP met reportedly to discuss the recommendation of the committee. 

Out of a total 3,567 cases booked during the agitation that started in December 2009, about 790 cases are likely to be lifted. 

Legal experts were being consulted on lifting the cases, home minister told media after the meeting. She said the announcement may come in a couple of days. 

However, the T Congress leaders V Hanumantha Rao, Mahdu Yaski Goud, G Vivek, Manda Jagannadham, Gutha Sukhender Reddy (all MPs) K R Amose (MLC), B Kamalakar Rao (PCC spokesperson), Palvai Goverdhan Reddy (former ministers) demanded that all the cases should be lifted as per the assurance given by Chidambaram in Parliament.
